Making carbon negative petrol

This was the subject of the 1918 noble prize in chemistry.  Where the French scientist Sebarier firm that heated carbon dioxide and steam would unburn to form methane - natural gas.

And the petrol we produce he is at a carbon negative!  Why stop burning petrol, when it is almost free and carbon negative.  Ceased burning fossil fuelled fuel or oil and gas.
