Nuclear power has invented the idea that electricity is carbon free.  If the electricity is generated using hydro electric or wind power, nearly. If it generated using a fossil fuel burn and or nuclear power very much not!  Fossil fuel burning obviously releases carbon dioxide, as the flame fires up a steam plasma, but oxidising the carbon takes in most of the energy. During uranium nuclear power plant construction, the use a fossil fuel burn on limestone and to produce the cement require for their reinforced concrete.
